The first, “Choices” is a Scarecrow story, with Batman hunting the villain in one of their earliest encounters, while Buce Wayne romances a new socialite, Jillian Maxwell, who has a dark secret. And some of those for me are the “Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Special” series from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, along with their two maxiseries, “Batman: The Long Halloween” and “Batman: Dark Victory.”Įach of the original three Halloween specials are smaller, more intimate tales than the sweeping, yearlong sagas of the two maxiseries, obviously. But none of that exactly screams comforting, does it?īut there are stories that are engaging, interesting and harken to your early days as a fan that will always bring you to a good place. And Batman works really well with horror themes, being that he is a figure of fear. I love horror and spooky stories, so that makes sense. You should also check out my past TMiG about all-ages Batman comics for some fun Batman stories to share with your family or just to read yourself maybe one of them will also show up on this list … These are stories I can go back to over and over and just fall into them, letting the world pass me by. So This Month in Gotham, we’re going to look at some of my Batman comfort reads. I’m not going to go into the details about it, because we’re all feeling it and the stress can be a lot.
